

Amritam Das

In Amritam’s work he focuses on popular culture drawing on the varied motifs, which have been
imprinted on his mind and drawn to represent different types of culture, particularly the images,
logos, symbols which are visually prevalent. His process is manual and iterative, using acrylic
on canvas as his primary medium. He states
“For the ‘BRIDGE2WORLDS’ project I produced ‘Makeup Man’. Indian films have many staff to do
makeup for the film stars, additionally the use of makeup is very popular in contemporary times. I
have drawn on my personal reflections and imagery from my memories, as well as popular colours,
texture, form, rhythm, and some captions to compose this work”.
Amritam lives in Murshidabad, West Bengal. He completed his Bachelors. Fine. Arts (2008) and
his Masters. Fine. Arts (2010) from Kala-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, India. In 2010, he
received The Inlaks Fine Arts award. From 2009, he has exhibited internationally in the U.K. and
throughout India.
