Pisurwo Jitendra Suralkar

Pisurwo Jitendra Suralkar, also known as Pisurwo, is a visual artist from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 2001 at Saptaput Lalit Kala Mahavidyalaya, Jalgaon and a Diploma in Art Education in 2011 from Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University. Jitendra describes his practice as: “Painting is as breathing, drawing is as living, and art is a way of being for me.”
Working mainly in oils on canvas, he blends personal and metaphorical themes. His signature line-drawing style, inspired by the Ajanta caves near his hometown, evolves into both large-scale paintings and intricate notations. Influenced by the frescoes and sculptures of Ajanta, he reimagines the legacy of early modern Indian painters like Amrita Sher-Gil and Jamini Roy, alongside the Cubist influence of Picasso and M. F. Husain.
Jitendra has exhibited in 13 countries and major cities in India, exploring the expressive possibilities of line with global acclaim.
