Sanatan Saha

Sanatan was born and brought up in a remote Bengal village and finds himself deeply rooted and inspired by his rural background. He states, “My art practice is a creative journey opening itself into an infinite visual space gleaming with memories, images, colours, and spaces. These images are entirely personal yet universal owing to their aesthetic promise and poignant qualities. Generally speaking, my paintings convey a luminous pictorial world replete with innumerable images emerging from various layers of the painted surface. These layers perhaps correspond to our layered existence and memories of past as well as present. What apparently seems to be a journey down the memory lane is actually a very tangible reality for me”.
He achieved in 2005 his Master of Fine Arts (Painting) from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan. In 2003, he attained his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the same institution. Prior to this he undertook in 1997-99 a certificate course in Design from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan. He received several awards and scholarships throughout his career
