Alda Terra
The artist's work emerges from an instinctive sense of the interconnectedness of all things, personal and collective, human and more-than-human, physical and spiritual, and from the ways in which art-making allows us to cross thresholds between the visible and the invisible.
In her painting Innocence (2025), a solitary sheep embodies a fleeting state just before awareness arrives. The delicate rendering and long shadow evoke a moment of vulnerability and becoming, inviting reflection on the connection between human and non-human life. Poised between innocence and experience, the image suggests the subtle ways in which the world begins to impress itself upon us.
Alda Terra (MA, PhD) is an interdisciplinary artist who employs image-making, sensory technologies, and sound art to explore the intersections of bodies, memories, and digital futures. Her recent painting practice marks a turn towards the mysterious realm of symbols, oneiric landscapes, utopian feminism, and myth. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.
