Dr. Mohan Luthra divides his artistic endeavours between West London and India. He has exhibited in group shows in the UK and has undertaken thematic solo exhibitions in fine art galleries in Delhi, Amritsar and Mumbai.

His exhibitions seek to provoke reflection on contemporary social, environmental and justice- related concerns. One such exhibition, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, combined paintings with life-sized sculptures to explore such themes.

His recent solo exhibition, ‘Home and Abroad – A Painting and a Thought’, held at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, explored the tension between the beauty of landscapes as well as cityscapes encountered through travel and the deeper realities, histories and environmental contexts that lie beneath these attractive images. Rejecting a fixed artistic style, he approaches each work anew, often accompanying his paintings with commentary and, at times, his own verse.

The two works presented here are early works executed for the purpose of sheer joy of painting.
