“As I travel to different countries, I am drawn to highly textured structures -finding beauty in dilapidated surfaces where marks, repairs, stains, and climatic changes have left their legacy.. Nature is not observed but experienced—felt through memory, sensation and the very act of making. Certain experiences of the place form strong sensory memories.”
The artworks are used to explore the possibilities of recreating my personal responses to the elements using a variety of media (at present using oil and cold wax) in multiple layers. Sometimes I scape back, or add more; it is a process of revealing and concealing, almost like time itself. The works are not about perfection, but about presence. They are elemental, raw, earthy, and abstract.
Though these works begin in my own experiences, they are also spaces for you- for your imagination, your emotions, your memories -to step in!”
