Mika Hadar
Mika Hadar is a London-based artist, photographer, painter, and poet. Born and raised in Israel to Holocaust-survivor parents, she grew up amid the beauty, complexity, and tensions of the Middle East — experiences that shaped her resilience and her understanding of creativity as a way of living with the paradoxes of life. Her journey began in ceramics as a studio potter in London, before leading her to study painting in Italy, deeply influenced by the Renaissance traditions of the Italian academies. Extensive travels continue to shape her visual language.
Artist Statement –
“All I wanted was a box of coloured pencils. I was seven years old, and my mother could not afford them. What she had were colourful threads, so I glued threads onto paper and made pictures that way. Perhaps I have been improvising ever since. Through mixed media — painting, photography, and poetry, I express what I call Poetic Art. I am drawn to moments of wonder and reflection, to the places where memory stirs and something beyond the visible becomes available.”
